Home-Work / Craft Cubed 2016

Jess Wright and Lara Davies aka Home-Work have created an inspiration wall of photographs and drawings from their everyday life and recent travels. (see a video of the girls installing this here!)

Home-Work brings to the gallery a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their creative process, resulting in a series of paintings and hand screen printed products.

Facetime invites you to come and observe the life cycle of a Home-Work design. The show reveals how an observation is brought to life as a motif in a printed pattern.

Home-Work’s exhibition at Boom is part of Craft Cubed – Australia’s biggest festival dedicated to all things handmade. Craft Cubed 2016 will see a series of major cultural events unfold throughout Victoria that showcase experimental, skilled and innovative craft and design. The festival will bring together over 700 artists, makers and thinkers for a month of Exhibitions, Workshops & Talks, Open Studios, Craft Online or Special Events. We are thrilled to be involved in the festival again and work with established craft and design practitioners such as Jess and Lara from Home-Work.

Jess Wright and Lara Davies are “Home-Work” – two textile designers and screen printers from Melbourne, Australia. The creative duo have worked together for the past 7 years teaching screen printing and design, as well as bringing their own colourful textile designs to life! Jess & Lara have run sell-out workshops at The National Gallery of Victoria, Jam Factory Adelaide, POKETO in Los Angeles as well as teaching most weekends at Home-Work HQ. Home-Work has appeared on The Design Files and Broadsheet and has been featured in Vogue Living Australia, Frankie Mag, Desktop Magazine & Wrap Magazine amongst many others. As well as producing their own popular screen printed products they have recently collaborated with the National Gallery of Victoria Design Store to create exclusive product ranges! Jess and Lara’s obsession with colour and pattern is tangible and is evident in everything they create! Enthusiastically converting ideas from their imagination the pair produce screen printed textile prints that are thoughtful and fun.

Home-Work will be returning to the Boom Workroom on the last day of their exhibition (September 3) to run two of their super popular and fun screen printing workshops, don’t miss out! Book here.
