ARTIST STATEMENT

"My fascination with the grid has informed my art practice over many years – the grid is used as both a template to play with balance, order, colour and surface and also used as a guide for physical installation. My interest in order and disruption of order led to the works such as Geometric and Check series.

In 2004 I moved to China to live and work – the Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Altar, Snow Approaching and New Year’s series are documentary memories of the time spent in China. Photographs of special places have been printed and obliterated, overlaid with paint and glaze as a nostalgic memory of these times."
