"I am endlessly inspired by time spent in natural environments. Someplace quiet that provides a moment of stillness. Wandering through these landscapes, I am drawn to patterns and textures and often document these details in photographs and sketches adding to an ever-growing collection. In the studio, I use these references as starting points, often breaking them down into familiar shapes and lines to be translated into a woodblock carving.

I continue to be enthralled by the possibilities of a single line. Essentially, each of my works are a collection of repetitive marks and lines that when varied in thickness and direction, can create movement and depth mirroring those initial observations."
