ARTIST STATEMENT
"'Honey', like much of my work is based on something from my home but is approached as a technical exploration. This work is part tonal study and part technical exercise based around combining pencil drawing, watercolour and acrylic paint. The inspiration for this investigation began with attempting to capture the tones, texture, and feel present in a beige lounge room wall.
This is the third study and along the way the wall has transformed into a pearl like sphere.
BIO
Michael’s work is a form of extended diary keeping in which he reinterprets his own past and memories, both true and false, idealised and misremembered. Working from a foundation in drawing Michael utilises a range of techniques to navigate a line between revealing and concealing private, interior and architectural spaces, as well as the family, friends and moments that once haunted them.
